I am an experienced English tutor and senior school leader, currently working as Deputy Head of Primary at an international school. I have many years of experience teaching and supporting students across Primary and early Secondary education, helping them build strong literacy skills, confidence, and independence as learners.
I bring a calm, structured, and supportive approach to every lesson. I understand that many students feel anxious about English or exams, and I work hard to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. Clear explanations, achievable steps, and encouragement are at the heart of my teaching.
As a senior leader, I have a deep understanding of curriculum expectations, assessment, and how progress is measured in schools. This allows me to tailor lessons effectively, identify gaps quickly, and focus on the skills that will make the biggest difference. I am highly organised, reliable, and well prepared for every session, ensuring that time is used productively and with purpose.

My approach as a private tutor is calm, structured, and personalised. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, confident, and clear about what they are working towards. I take time to understand each student’s starting point, learning style, and goals, and I adapt my teaching to meet their individual needs.
My teaching style combines clear explanation with guided practice and independent application. I break learning into manageable steps, model skills clearly, and use targeted questioning to check understanding. I focus on building strong foundations in reading and writing while also developing exam technique, organisation, and confidence. Feedback is clear, constructive, and practical, so students understand how to improve.
A typical lesson follows a consistent structure. We begin with a short recap of previous learning to reinforce key skills. I then introduce or revisit a focused learning objective, explaining the skill or concept clearly. This is followed by guided practice, where we work through examples together, and independent practice, where the student applies the skill with increasing confidence. Each lesson ends with a review of progress and clear next steps, so students understand what they have achieved and what to work on next.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of classroom teaching experience and senior leadership in education. As a Deputy Head of Primary, I have a strong understanding of curriculum expectations, assessment, and how students progress over time. I am calm, patient, and consistent, which helps students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I also value strong communication with parents and provide clear feedback and guidance to support learning beyond the session.
My lessons are suitable for students in Primary and lower Secondary education, including those preparing for assessments or examinations. I support students who need to build confidence, close learning gaps, or improve performance in English. This includes students working at or below expected levels, as well as those who would benefit from challenge and extension. Lessons are tailored to meet a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
